CELEBRATE OUR FIRST PATIENT
With only one month left during our field service on Cameroon, we’d like you to meet a very special Mercy Ships patient.
Eleven year old Justine was the first patient who crossed the gangway to the Africa Mercy when we arrived in Cameroon last year. Her bowed legs bent so far that eventually her feet were pointing backwards, as you can see in the photograph.
Justine’s treatment onboard the ship was complex, and she dealt with complications that lengthened her recovery. So, while Justine was the first to go up the gangway, she was also one of the last orthopaedics patients to be discharged.
But Justine’s legs are straight now, thanks to Mercy Ships donors and volunteers. And, just as importantly, she’s got renewed confidence.
“There’s nothing I can’t do!”
